I've Got to Go   Top

Song length: 1:20
Words and Music by Don Magyar

Song Description:

Video — The scene opens with the parents in the front and two children in the back. The action follows the song.

Target Market/Audience:

This song is meant to be sung by children. Everyone has experienced having to go to the bathroom. A moment in the song comes when an obvious rhyme calls for a word that children are not to say. This causes comic relief in the audience. The first verse of the song was not recorded for this shortened version of the song that was used in the musical "It's Not About Love."

(Verse 1)
I rode around in the car all day.
I forgot to go before.
I ran outside with bare feet.
Now I’ve got to go even more.
I ran upstairs to make things right.
But oh to my surprise.
I saw the door shut from the stairs.
And tears came to my eyes.

Ohhhhh.

(Chorus)
Way up high. Way down low.
Oh me oh my, I’ve got to go.
I’ll wait for you, outside the door.
If you don’t hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry.
I’ll wet the floor. I’ll wet the floor.

(Verse 2)
I’m standing here so patiently,
praying for a break.
You would open up that door,
if you knew what was at stake.
I think my seams are all but broke.
I think they’re gonna split.
If I don’t get in there real soon,
I think I’m gonna. Ohhhhh.

(Chorus)
Way up high. Way down low.
Oh me oh my, I’ve got to go.
I’ll wait for you, outside the door.
If you don’t hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry.
I’ll wet the floor. I’ll wet the floor.

If you don’t hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry, hurry.
I’ll wet the floor. I’ll wet the floor.

Song Description:

Video — The kids are fussing around the kitchen table while mom is cooking. They are not happy with what she has cooked. The mom is on the phone, taking about her hectic day. The kids begin to sing.

Target Market/Audience:

This song is meant to be sung by children. Every child has experienced having to eat something that was not their favorite food. This song is a petition by children to adults to prepare food that is appealing to children. The first verse and chorus were not recorded for this shortened version of the song that was used in the musical "It's Not About Love."

(Verse 1)
Momma made breakfast. I feel a little faint.
The egg that she made is still moving on my plate.
I slip it to the dog but forgot about the yolk.
He takes it in the living room where we begins to choke.

(Chorus)
Peter Pan and Welch’s Jam are what kids like to eat.
No one likes liver, beets and cream of wheats.
Beer and wine and turpentine all taste the same to us.
Give us kids’ food and we’ll never make any fuss.

(Verse 2)
Momma says the rabbit eats the carrots for his eyes.
We cannot understand how a rabbit can be wise.
Daddy says to eat ‘em all or we will go to bed.
We thank him as we run upstairs. We’d rather sleep instead.

(Chorus)
Peter Pan and Welch’s Jam are what kids like to eat.
No one likes liver, beets and cream of wheats.
Beer and wine and turpentine all taste the same to us.
Give us kids’ food and we’ll never make any fuss.

(Verse 3)
Mama served asparagus and I thought I would croak.
The quiche that she made made me shake cough and choke.
My little sister got the hiccups and began to cry.
She wammied on the table, right in the kidney pie.

(Chorus)
Peter Pan and Welch’s Jam are what kids like to eat.
No one likes liver, beets and cream of wheats.
Beer and wine and turpentine all taste the same to us.
Give us kids’ food and we’ll never make any fuss.

Target Market/Audience:

Everyone remembers such a moment.

(Verse 1)
You had an exciting day filled with so much fun.
You think that by going to sleep, the fun is done.
But if you listen to my song, you can play all night long.

(Chorus)
Go to sleep. Wipe your tears away.
Go to sleep. Get ready to play.

(Verse 2)
When you dream the colors will be bright just like the day.
Better yet there’s magic in the land of endless play.
Where any toy that you can see will spring to life if you believe.

(Chorus)
Go to sleep. Close your weary eyes.
Go to sleep. Everything’s all right.

(Verse 3)
When you dream the colors will be bright just like the day.
Better yet there’s magic in the land of endless play.
Best of all, when you awake, there won’t be toys to put away.

(Chorus)
Go to sleep. Wipe your tears away.
Go to sleep. Get ready to play.

(Bridge)
If you think about it you won’t be gone for so long.
And if you dream about them you can bring your friends along.

(Chorus)
Go to sleep. Wipe your tears away.
Go to sleep. Get ready to play.

(Chorus)
Go to sleep. Close your weary eyes.
Go to sleep. Everything’s all right.

(Chorus)
Girls Everybody's trying to be so cool.
Playing each day just like the chips are down.

Boys You’re either a clown or you run around downtown.

Girls Looking back we see that we were fools.
Still this year we think we’ll turn around.
(While pointing to the boys...) Rap it up.

(Verse 1)
Boys Nike here. Jncos there.
I got to get me some of them underwear.
Wear you bag them up. Sag around.
Walk like a gangster that runs this town.
Who we hanging with. Who we dating when we do.
That’s a list of my priorities. How about you?
(While pointing to the girls...) Sisters.

(Chorus)
Girls Everybody's trying to be so cool.
Playing each day just like the chips are down.

Boys You’re either a clown or you run around downtown.

Girls Looking back we see that we were fools.
Still this year we think we’ll turn around.
(While pointing to the boys...) Rap it up.

(Verse 2)
Boys The words you use. The way you talk (talk).
You got to think about the way you're looking when you walk (walk).
You can’t be too smart. Can’t be the teacher’s pet.
The brown on your nose better be from chocolate.
Do what is different and you will feel the heat.
Following the leader is the way of the street.
You gotta break the rules if you’re gonna get ahead.
Well I think that’s everything that needs to be said.

Boys You’re either a clown or you run around downtown.

(Bridge)
Girls Everybody's trying to be cool.

Boys (The boys take turns saying...) I'm cool. I'm cool. I'm cool. I'm cool.

Girls But everyone is just a fool.

Boys (The boys take turns saying...) A fool? A fool? A fool? A fool?

Girls Trying to be cool makes you a fool.
Stop trying to be cool and turn around. (Turn around. Turn around.)
You’ll become cool when you stop being cool.
(Turn around. Turn around. Turn around. Turn around. Turn around.)

Boys (The boys take turns saying...) O.K. O.K. I got it. Check this out.

(Verse 3)
Boys I’m not gonna follow them and try to be cool.
Cause following them makes me their fool.
They’ll go it alone. I’ll shake their advice.
I’m gonna keep my head; think things through twice.
Cause following others is a game for fools.
I’m gonna be the one who makes the rules.
I’m gonna take charge, stand up, and lead the way.
I’m gonna make our hood a little better every day.
I’m gonna reach out (reach out) and lend a hand.
I know that you’ll take it when you understand.
Trying to be cool only makes us fools.
It’s only when we not try that we become cool.
Go figure. (While pointing to the girls...) Sisters.

(Chorus)
Girls Everybody's trying to be so cool.
Playing each day just like the chips are down.

Boys You’re a clown if you run around downtown.

Girls Looking back we see that we were fools.
This year I think we’ll turn around.

Boys You’re a clown if you run around downtown.

Girls Everybody's trying to be so cool.
Playing each day just like the chips are down.
Boys You’re a clown if you run around downtown.

Girls Looking back we see that we were fools.
This year I think we’ll turn around.

Boys You’re a clown if you run around downtown.

Girls This year I think we’ll turn around.

Boys You’re a clown if you run around downtown.

Girls This year I think we’ll turn around.

Boys You’re a clown if you run around downtown.

Girls This year I think we’ll turn around.

Boys You’re a clown if you run around downtown.
